On Friday, 18 January 2008, the secondary 1 students came down to NPCC training for their first trail. We reported at 2.15p.m wearing our full-uniform. Our first programme was the muster-parade. We showed the sec 1s how a parade is going to be. We took badges in the parade. After that, we changed to our P.T kit and fall in outside NPCC room. After we make sure everyone changed and ready for next activity, we proceeded to Multi-Purpose room where is located beside Teens-Hub to have our balloon twisting. Although I was excited, I'm afraid that the balloons will burst. I cried upon hearing the first balloon burst. But after listening serveral bursting, I overcome my fear. But in the end, I made one sword by myself. Soon, we cleared everything and had our debrief. We were dismissed at 6.00p.m. It was truly a great experience everyone had.

Determination Above All;
On Friday, 18 January 2008, we came down to NPCC to have our first training. The main attractive on this training was the balloon twisting. Everyone who attended the balloon twisting event find it very interesting and would like to thanks the teachers and seniors who organized. We learnt to be more creative as we were thought to make puppy, parrot, sword and also teddy bear. Twisting balloons with our friends and teachers was a great experience as we were giggling with joy. Balloon twisting also overcome our fears towards loud sounds as the bursts of a balloon made us really shocked. Some of the students and maybe teachers shut their ears tightly when the balloon burst. It was an great opportunity for us to get to know each other better and make more friends. We were amazed to see how skilled the Student Councillor was in balloon twisting. He coaches us with wonderful designs. I hope with the basics of balloon twisting, I can find more designs by myself. Learning balloon twisting is a wonderful skill which not everyone have the chance to learn. We can teach other students and also other people from different places. It was a joyful thing to do as it lit miserable faces with a smile immediately. We have to thank the NPCC teachers, seniors and the student councillor with pleasure for organizing such an interesting event for us.

Determination Above All;
On the 5th of January 2008, my school held the busery presentation award with conjuction with Serangoon Community Centre. The school councillors and NPCC were selected to help out in the event. As it was an important event in the school, they wanted everything to go well. In preparation, the school had a meeting for the councillors and NPCC cadet, which gave us an idea of what we will be doing. After the meeting, we, the NPCC cadets had a meeting by ourself. By this meeting, we were all appointer a post by our NCO Gordon. We were separated into 3 groups. Group 1 were the people doing road marshalling. Group 2 were the people dishing out foods. And last but not least, our special group taken by Ms Noreen are those people who are selling things in our stall. As I'm the In-Charge of group 2, I was excited as it was my first time being the In-Charge of a school event. The next day we reported at 11.30a.m in school. NCO Gordon gave my group a few task to complete. We worked as a team and completed all the tasks in no time and in orderly manner. Being the leader of my group and guiding them through this tasks, it was not easy as it seem. Be a first timer of a In-Charge, I finally successfully did it. Thanks to NPCC which built my confidence level. After that, we akk had a break. During the break, I explained to my group their next job. Meanwhile, we waited for the community member incharge of us, Ms Serene. She gave us a better explaination of the job. Soon, I devided my group into another 4 different groups. After dividing the group into 4 other groups, all of the members will be doing the same thing as there are 4 lanes for the people to queue for their food. When the food arrived, we helped to arrange them orderly in the canteen. When the parents came to the canteen, we took our positions and get ready. As there were many parents, we had to work faster and it made our hands pain. When the crowd subsided, we took a break. During this break, we sat down together eating our lunch and shared our experience. We met lots of new charateristics through this event. Once we finished cleaning up the place, we all went down for debrief. Our teacher officer was pleased with our performance. Although we were in 3 groups, all of us enjoyed our day. Through this experience, I learnt many things on how to control a group. It was also a good chance for me to show my leadership. Nevertheless, I created more bounding between the juniors and myself. This event was indeed a successed for all.

Determination Above All;
We had our CCA Open House for the year 2008 on Friday, 11 January. The whole unit reported at 1pm in our PT Kit attire. We were divided into 4 sections namely Fancy drill, Campcraft, Presentation and Shooting games. For fancy drill, we did the same performance as our Fancy drill competition which was held last year. We taught the Secondary One students how to tie chain knots. As some people previously had not learnt other knots, so it was a good opportunity that they could learn something new about knots. We explained the purpose of the different knots and their uses. We used chain knot to make hand wrists for the Secondary One students as souvenirs for them so that they can have the memories that they learnt this knot during the CCA Open House. For the shooting game, we used candles as targets for the Secondary One students to try shooting out the candle flames. We also did a presentation, we told the Secondary One students about the various uniforms like First uniforms and the Normal uniforms. We also told them the different badges and the requirements to achieve those badges. There were two police officers who drove a police car to our school. They told the Secondary One students topics about the Law and punishment and they showcased the police car. After the CCA Open House, we took pictures with the police car and police officers. It was indeed a fruitful experience promoting the wonderful CCA – National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC).

All the NPCC cadets from Serangoon Garden Secondary School, had CCA Open House for the sec 1's on Friday, 11th January 2008. We had 4 stations altogether. And one of it is fancy drills. All of us are preparing for the open house.After school, we had our lunch and changed to our P.T Kit. And then, we fall-in at 1pm outside the NP room. Some were doing their campcraft things and the fancy drills group had their training. At last, there is some improvement in our drills. At 2.10pm, we were instructed by our CI to changed from our P.T Kit to Full-u and we were given to changed till 2.30pm including our break. We were told to drink lots of water, so that we won't faint. Then, we had our training again. Some of the sec 2 cadets who are not involve in fancy drills, had their normal training. Halfway training, rain started to fall and all were in hurry to the ampitheatre. The fancy drills group had to march out using umbrella. We fall-in at ampitheatre. So, we plan to have one last training. When we were training, we had to stop because some of the sec 1s students had already arrived. Soon, we went back to our position and start our performance. On our 1st performance, there were some wrong movements that we had made. After a few performances, finally we made a great success. When the rain stopped, we went to the basketball court to continue another 2 more performances. Through out the whole afternoon, the sec 1's had seen our performances. We took some photos with the policemen and the petrol car. After taking pictures, the fancy drills group changed into P.T Kit and fall-in outside NPCC room. We were given time to changed. Overall, we had our debrief and were dismissed at 6.30pm. After our hardworks and trainings, the event was a success. Hope there will be more sec 1s this year.

The NCOs reported at 2pm while the other sec 2 and 3 cadets reported at 2.15pm.Our attire for this training was pt kit.The attendance for the sec 2 and 3 cadets were not very good. Whereas it was good for the NCOs. There were 17 of us. It was the first time, we had such a big squad, ever since we became an NCO. First, all the cadets, NCOs and Ci made ourselves up to the classroom in the third level. After all of them had settle down, the Ci and NCOs began doing whatever administration stuff they had to do. After updating their particulars and everything, the NCOs and me brief all of them on what is going to happen next Friday and how they are involved. On Friday it would be the sec 1 orientation. After that, since there was nothing planned for the sec 2 and 3, the cadet inspectors took them for drills. The NCOs continued discussing about the sec 1 orientation and also finishing up our proposal.At around 5.15-5.30pm, Mr peh started his debrief. He told us some of the upcoming events of the year 2008.
